This article discusses the results of comparisons in which the RSE "Kazakhstan Institute of Standardization and Metrology" (KazStandart) participated within the framework of the Euro-Asian cooperation of state metrological institutions (COOMET). The article discusses the organization of bilateral pilot comparisons of state standards of liquid density between KazStandart and the Uzbek National Institute of Metrology (UzNIM), where KazStandart acted as a pilot laboratory. The main purpose of the comparisons is to confirm the accuracy and international traceability of density standards.
The purpose of comparing the standards of the liquid density unit is to compare the results of density measurements of liquid samples performed by participating laboratories. Liquid density measurements are mainly performed by laboratories in order to provide calibration and verification tools for working density measurements, such as hydrometers and vibration density meters.
Density, as an important physical characteristic, is measured in various industries. The article discusses the measurement of liquid density by hydrostatic weighing of a reference density measure immersed in the liquid samples under test. This is a method for measuring the density of liquids and solids based on Archimedes' law.
KazStandart, having the state standard of liquid density, takes an active part in international comparisons to ensure uniformity and accuracy of measurements at the global level. Within the framework of the COOMET 555/AZ-a/12 project, comparisons were conducted with the Mendeleev VNIIM, where KazStandart confirmed its competence.
